Go with a Pro or No?

Without a doubt, digital cameras changed the landscape of photography. So, the question is: Should you pay a professional photographer to take your photos or not?

That depends on a few factors. 1) Is it important that the photos look good? 2) If something goes wrong, will you be able to recreate the event so that the pictures can be retaken? 3) Will the person taking the photos be able to adjust the files so that they look professional and are
printable? 4) Are the pictures really important to you? and 5) Will the photos be used for advertising?

Let's start at a basic level: Your headshot. Let's say that you want a new photo for your Facebook page. You plan to use the new image for all of your business newsletters and so forth. Which photo would you choose from the two images on this post? They are similar but which one looks more professional?

fyi: the one at the top was a snap shot taken by someone who had a digital camera. The one below was taken by a professional and retouched for publication.

So, again, whether to hire a pro or not depends on how good (and professional) the picture needs to look. Your call.

Until next time....
